Japanese Big Four firm Nishimura & Asahi has announced plans to combine with Taiwan's Lexcel Law Offices to form a new international full-service law firm.

Nishimura & Asahi opened its Taipei office in 2020 and has continued to expand its Taiwan practice. Upon completion, Nishimura & Asahi's Taiwan practice head Ing-Chian Sun and Lexcel managing partner Shiau-Pan Yang will serve as co-managing partners of the new firm.

Founded in 2004, Lexcel currently practices across investment and M&A, banking and finance, insurance, intellectual property and litigation.

The new firm will combine the two firms' client bases and capabilities and leverage Nishimura & Asahi's global network to provide cross-border legal services to clients in Japan, Taiwan and other markets.
